The council of the Lawn Tennis Association decided to cancel the . tour of Australia late this year by an English women’s -team consisting of Misses Hardwick, names, Ingram, Heeley and Whitmarsh. The decision is “owing to the standard of the team not being such as to assure the success of the tour.” GERMAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. HAMBURG, August 1. In the first round of the German tennis championships, V. B. McGrath (Australia) beat A. von Cramm (a brother of the Davis Cup player), 6-4, 6-0, 6-1; J. Crawford (Australia) beat Dessart, 11-9, 6-2, 6-1; I. Bromwich (Australia) heat Goettsche, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1.
