Miss R. Mason, formerly of the staff of the Ashburton High School, was a visitor here to-day.
Mr J. Learning, secondary school inspector, commenced a two-day visit to the Ashburton High School this morning. He will carry out a general inspection of the school.
Advice that the Governor-General (Viscount Galway) had re-appointed Messrs J. Brown and M. Bruce as his representatives on the Ashburton High School Board of Governors was received this morning by the board, which offered its congratulations to the members mentioned.
At the monthly meeting of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee last weeK the chairman (Mr E. Macdonald) made reference to the death of Mr F. W. Watt, Ashburton, who was one of the foundation .members of the committee, and who, in 1922-23, took a prominent part in the purchase of the Sanatorium property. The secretary was directed to forward a letter of sympathy to Mrs Watt and family.
