WHEAT SOWINGS.
QUESTION OF RECENT DELAYS. MINISTER MAY VISIT DISTRICT. i As a result of representations made to the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) by Mr H. E. Herring, M.P., in regard to the position \ that has arisen in the decreased wheat sowings through bad weather, the Minister has stated that he hopes to visit the district and discuss the position with growers. The representations were made by Mr Herring following his visit to the water-logged areas at Doyleston and Brookside. "It is indeed unfortunate that the weather has been so bad, and that the heavy rain has delayed sowing operations to such an extent,” said the Minister in a lei£er to Mr Herring. He added that a close survey had been made of the areas already planted and those which still had to be sown. The position was not so bad as the weather made them feel might be the case.
