TOO MANY HARES.
HUNTINC AT TINWALD. SPOILT TO SOME EXTENT. Hares were too plentiful at the meet of the Ashburton branch of the Christchurch Hunt yesterday. The sport was spoilt to some extent, although conditions were excellent. The hounds were cast off in Mr A. Read’s property, and soon had a hare running very fast toward the farm of Mr P. J. Andrew, where puss was lost in a plantation. The pack was then taken on to Mr B. Grice’s land, but here too many hares soon had hounds at fault. Several more runs were held over country which proviued good jumping before hounds were packed up. The followers were the Master (Mr G H. Grigg) on Jimmy Speight, the Deputy-Master (Mr A. N. Grigg) on Tommy Ruff and Sacks, Huntsman J. Selby on Baba and Gu, the Honorary Whip (Mr J. H. Grigg) on Haldon and Plain Jane, Major J. W. McKergoW on Joe, Messrs B. Fechney on Sunny Boy, J. Roberts on Jill and Misty, H. MeElrea on Philip, J. Guinness on Mischief, Dawe on Cinderella, A. Drummond on Real McKay, and T. Pennall on Sandy McPherson, Mesdanies G. H. Grigg on T© Aia, J. Montgomery on Tiger, J. W. McKergow on Simon, Jaine on Lady, Misses A. Lemon on Auster, L. Lemon on Cappy Ricks, Read on Jimmy, D. Montgomery on Daybreak, M. Selby on Guillimus. Those following in cars were Dr. J. Russell Wells, Mr and Mrs E. W. Roberts, Mrs T. Upton, Miss Upton and party, Miss Muir head and party, Mr A. G. Bradley.
