RUGBY FOOTBALL.
DRAWN GAME RESULTS. SECONDARY SCHOOL RUGBY. A draw resulted yesterday in the annual Rugby match between the Ashburton. High School and the Ashburton Technical High School. Each side scored eight points. At the opening of the match High School forced play to Technical’s twenty-five, where ID. Shaw converted a free-kick. Soon after M. Kirdy went over the line for a try for High School, D. Shaw converting. High School 8, Technical High School 0. After half-time Technical took a turn at attack. A good movement resulted in a try by E. Body (Technical) after a fast run. L. Muir converted. The score was evened by P. Gardiner, who went across the line at the corner. The kick at goal failed. DECISION TO IGNORE REMARKS. Confidence in one of its members, Mr D. Wood, referee of the senior Rugby match in which two players were ordered off last Saturday, was expressed at a meeting of the Ashburton Rugby Referees’ Association last evening. It was decided to ignore certain references to the referee made by Mr A. McCormick when the Rugby Union was discussing the incidents last Monday evening. Two new members, the Rev. Dr. G. Harrison and Mr R. Rose, were elected. INTER-SCHOOL MATCH. The Wakanui School journeyed to Seafield on Wednesday afternoon for the annual'Rugby football match with the Seafield School. A very good game resulted, Wakanui ' winning by 15 points to 0. Tries were scored by J. Lay, S. Watson and A. Hydes. The game was controlled by Mr McGuinness.
