TRIPOD HOOKS.

Sir, —I notice by the report of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society’s meeting last evening that the committee had amended their rules to prohibit the use of tripod hooks on silvery tackle. Now, sir, seeing that the Timaru Society would not take any action in the matter I would like to ask the following questions through your paper:— (1) Can the Timaru fishermen fish with the tripod hooks in the Ashburton, Rangitata and Rakaia rivers? (2) Can I purchase a license at Timaru or 'Christchurch and fish at the south side of the Rangitata River and north side of Rakaia River? (3) Can the Ashburton Society stop outside fishermen from using the tripod in the Rangitata or Rakaia? OLD FISHERMAN. July 29.
