THEIR MAJESTIES

BRIEF VISIT TO BELFAST.

ENTHUSIASTIC LOYAL WELCOME.

WHOLE DISTRICT EN FETE.

(United Press Association-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, July 28.

Belfast and the surrounding towns and villages were en fete for the King and Queen, who crossed the Irish Channel in the Royal yacht, escorted by three cruisers and six destroyers.' The visit lasted for only one day, but it was filled with processions and ceremonial. The North of Ireland capital was packed with enthusiastic visitors from all over Ulster. , The city stopped work for the visit. Thousands of factory hands, released from work with a full day’s pay, gave a tremendous greeting to their Majesties. Through the whole of the Royal drive from the quayside to the City Hall the people were massed ten to twelve deep on the pavements and in the side .roads. The windows also were thronged. Flags, handkerchiefs and hats waved above the mass of people. Before entering the City Hall their Majesties visited the Garden of Remembrance, nearby. They also inspected a parade of ex service men and women.—British Official Wireless.
