GRAIN AND' PRODUCE.
AUCKLAND MARKETS
AUCKLAND, July 27
Since last report the only notable change in values on the grain and produce markets has concerned onions. The rapid depletion of stocks available from Pukekohe and from the South Island has caused prices to advance Vapidly, and to-day wholesale quotations rule from 16s to 17s per cwt. However, the announcement that the Government intends to arrange for the importation of Victorian onions is expected to bring about an easing in values, as they should land here to sell about 12s per 1001 b. Potatoes are in good supply in the city and two steamers from the south are unloading to-day. White tables are steady at late rates, but Dakotas are selling 5s a ton cheaper, namely, from £lO to £lO 5s a ton. The pollard position shows no improvement. Merchants report difficulty in getting Australian supplies, and values' show no signs of easing. Howfever, the demand is keen even at the high prices of 10 to, £lO 5s a ton. Bran is available in ample quantities from local mills.
Oats are reported to he easier in the south, but there is no change in local values. There is no change in maize. South African is quoted at 63 4d to 6s 5d a bushel.
