SHEARERS’ PAY
SUBSTANTIAL INCREASES.
RATES FOR NEXT SEASON.
COMPARISON WITH LAST YEAR

Substantial increases have been made in the rates of pay of New Zealand shearers and shed hands for next season. The rates are as follow, with those of last year in brackets: —
Machine-shearing—Not less than 34s per 100, with rations (last year 275). Shearing by Hand—36s 6d (29s Cd, where shearers find themselves in rations, an allowance of 4s a day. Stud Sheep and Hogget Rams —Rate and a. half, and ior other rams double ordinary rates.
Shed Hands—Prossers £5 Is a week (£4) ;by the hour 2s 9d (2s 2d). AH other shed hands £4 11s a week (£3 10s), by the hour 2s 7d (2s).
Cooks—Twelve men or under £5 11s ,'a week (£4 10s), per day £1 Is (17s 6d); for over 12 men the wage will be increased by 2s 6d a week for each additional man, and for 18 men an assistant shall bo employed at the rate of £4 16s (£3 15s), or 17s 4d a day (15s). All the rates are subject to the same adjustment and conditions as last season.
