COMEDY IN THE EAST MATCH.

(United Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 27.

The United States won the Davis Cup, winning the last two singles in the challenge round against Britain (holder). Details are: — F. A. Parker (U.S.) defeated C. E. Hare, 6-2, 6-4, ( 6-2. J. D. The American awakened first and# broke two of the Englishman’s services for the set 6-2:

Have, who thrived on Budge’s speed 'on Saturday, was unable ,to counter Parker’s versatility or deal with his 'changes in’ pace. Moreover his slowness of foot enabled Parker to outmanoeuvre him. The Englishman won two lover service games, but the American took the set 6-4.

Hare won the first two games in the third set and after that relapsed, double faulting, over-driving and netting. Parker won six games in succession far the set, thus giving Parker the match and America the Davis Cup. The Budge-Austin match was now a more exhibition. Austin led 5-2, in the first set but Budge won the set 8-6. The element of comedy pervading the match was indicated by the players exchanging racquets in the first game in the fourth set, Budge hitting four winners with Austin’s streamlined racquet.
