A terrible toll of death and destruction followed an earthquake in the Vera. Cruz and Puebla districts. Thousands remained out of doors during the night, weeping and praying. ... Thirty bodies have been recovered, and many injured have been taken to hospital. Half the buildings were shattered in Maltrata, where 16 were killed and 70 injured.
