JAPAN AND THE ULTIMATUM.
BRITISH SHELTER AT LEGATION. (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) PEIPING, July 27. The British authorities advised their nationals to spend the night in the Legation quarter. A Tientsin message states that the Japanese spokesman explained that it was unlikely that Japan would take action as a iresult of the ultimatum before to-morrow.
JAPANESE RAISING WAR LOAN.
SUM OF £5,600,000 WANTED. (Received This Day, 12.35 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. The Tokio correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that Cabinet is raising a war loan of £5,600,000.
