INTOXICATED IN CAR.
YOUTH FINED AND DELICENSED. FOUND ASLEEP AFTER A DANCE. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Joseph Reid Taylor, a salesman, aged 20, was a guest at the City Council traffic inspectors’ dance last night. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day he pleaded guilty to having been drunk in charge of a car in Armagh Street last night. Taylor was fined £lO and his license Was cancelled for 12 months. Sub-Inspector McLean said’ that Taylor was found in the front seat of a rental car by two traffie inspectors. They were satisfied he was intoxicated. Counsel contended that the offence was a technical one. Taylor had been to the traffic inspectors’ dance and had a number of drinks. He felt unwell so he went to the car, unlocked the door, threw the keys on the floor and fell asleep. Taylor had made no attempt to drive the car.
