PERSONAL.

The Rev. W. J. Hands, of Avonside, Christchurch, visited Ashburton to-day, and was the speaker at the annual ruridecanal festival of the Mothers’ Union held in St. Stephen’s Church. Mr J. Baker, of Lower Hutt, who has been a carpenter in the Government service for 36 years, was among the recent recipients of Coronation medals. He is the eldest son of Mr Benjamin Baker, of Havelock Street, Ashburton.
