| The publication of heavy casualty lists, and a soaking wot afternoon, caused a decline in attendance at the Hawke's Bay. Jockey Club's? spring meeting. The racing was quite up to the high standard usually witnessed at this fixture. The totalisator turnover was £15,242, as against £17,292 for the same day last year. Concluding I results: ■— Flax-mere Hack Handicap.—Trials 1. Teka 2, Honey Bee 3. Won by a length and a half; a 'length between second and third. Time, lmin 19sec. Hastings Stakes. —Vagabond 1, Estland 2, Astrophel 3. A length separated the three placed horses. Time 51 l-ssec. Spring Handicap.—Balboa 1. Welcome Nugget 2, St. Elmn 3. Won by a length; four lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 15 3-okgc. . Waipntu Hnck Handicap.—Bunting 1, Hexton 2, Mnraetotara 3. -Won by two lengths; half a length betweon second and third. Time, lmin 49sec . Final Handicap.—Hyginas 1, Zeuf; 2; Tina A tun. 3. Won by a head: a length between sorond and third. Time, Irain 20sec-.
