ANAMA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of Anama Road Board was held at Hekcao on Monday last." Present.—Messrs W. Nosworthy", M.P. (chairman),W.- E. Jones^ F. Pawson, and A. Harvoy,> senr. The clerk, in his report, stated that Cavendish 'Road formation was not,fit to spread metal on and that a storm water crossing would have to bo made. —It was resolved to give the contractor notice, in terms of the contract, thnt the- board will (after expiration of three days) proceed to complete the work and deduct the cost from the amount of the contract. ! Complaints were received that gorse was "growing, oh. certain roads, ?.nd. the clerk was instructed to give* the occupiers of adjacent land notico to clcaj the roads. The Ashburton County Council notified that in future applications for watcr-raoo crossings on roads musty bo sanctioned by the board before being placed before? the council. The- board approved 'of the County Council's proposed by-law prohibiting engine traffic on-road during June, July, and August, provided it does not apply to chaff-cutting plants. Mr A. Jackmah wrote asking the board to widen a small bridge over a drain at, his gate,—The clerk was instructed,.to reply that some time since Mr Jaekman had been offered timber to do the work himself, and then had expressed himself satisfied. A ratepayer wrote offering to work out the amount of his rates.—Re-
coived. , The clerk reported that the metalling of the Brothers-Cavendish Road had been let, and he was authorised to have some other short lengths in the*neighbourhood done at the same
rate. ' ' , .. , , Advice of payment of subsidy on last year's rato was received. - An account for the board's share-of Twontvmau's Bridge was received and referred back to tho County Council For detaill!. # Accounts amounting to L 144 l.^s ..•i" voVf passed and the board adjourned.
