ASH BURTON STOCK MARKET.

ASHBURTON YARDS-THIS DAY

There was a small attendance :it the weekly stock Kile hold at the Ashbur- . ton yards to-^lay. The entry was the smallest for some considerable time, and totalled 552, as against 1729 at Tinwaid yards last week. A fortnight ago at the Ashburton yards the yarding totalled 891. Fat sheep yarded totalled 161, as aga.iu.st 36-1 last^week at Tinwald yards, and. included 70 fat 'ewes, 70 fat wethers, ami 21 fat hogjgets. Last week's totals were 179 , ewes, 165 wethers, and 20 hoggets. There waw a good demand, and prices were equal to"those ruling a fortnight ago. At Tinwald yards last week prices had declined. The highest bid obtained for ewes was 36s 3d, wethers 36s 6d, and Tioggote 25s 9d. The following range of prices obtained: — Prime fat owes 34s 6d to 36s 3d, others 20s Id to 24b, wethers 33s 3d to 36s 6d, hoggets 22s 6d to 25s 9d. Only four pens of Btore sheep were entered, totalling 391, as against 1365 last week. Thero was ft fair demand, and every lot was sold at auction. Prices were: — Sheep. Fat Pens.—Ewes: Ten shorn at 20s Id, 24 threo-quartorbreds at 36s -3d, 7 do. at 23s 6d, 14 do. ai :34s 6d. 13 do. at 24s 6d, 2 halt'breds at 245. Wethers: Two three-quarterbreds at 35s 9d, 30 do. at 36s 6d, 21 do. at.33s 3d, 17 do. at 33s 3d. Hoggets: Three shorn' at 22s 6d. 18 unshorn at 25s 9d. Stores: Two hundred and forty-eight halfbred wether lioggets .at 225. 26 failing-mouth halfbred ewes;•; and 31 lambs (all counted) at 17s 7.d, 52 do. threcrquarfcorbreds ant] 60 lambs (all counted) at 17s, 65 do. and ,69 lambs (all counted) at 1.75.
