should be. on the roll at 200,000/ of whom 188,680 already -have applied for enrolment. . The balance probably in- | eluded a large number already in camp. Steps will be taken to trace defaulters and bring them to book. / At present Mr Frascr is concentrating his energies on getting everything in readiness to liold a ballot, if necessary, at the- end of the present month to lill shortages in the Twenty-first and Twenty-second Ueinforce'monts. Itolls for the recruiting districts gazoiiikl last woi'k are boing prepared, but it will be possible to take a ballot if required, without waiting for the completion of those rolls.
