HAYWARD'S PICTURES

"JEALOUSY"—OR 'THE GREEN SWAMP."

The'big attraction at His Majesty's Theatre last evening was "The Green Swamp," a powerful play with jealousy for its theme.' The loading role is. taken by Miss Bessie Barrisealc, whose beauty and acting have made ■a. deep impression upon" picure-goers, and earned her a very large following. She appears as a woman who is always suspicious of her husband, and whose jealousy nearly causes her to lose the object of her love. The staging of the drama is very good, tho scone at the fancy dress ball being especially fine from a spectacular point of view. Of striking situations there are many, and the spectators' interest is held throughout. Towards, the conclusion, all the suspense that waits on a critical operation is felt in a. scene in an operating room. The surgeon is bending over tho patient with his scalpel in his' hand aiid performs a delicate incision in the skull. Outside of the door the young wife of the patient is wrestling with her jealous tears, not knowing that her husband's life lies in tho balance and that her sudden entry might cause a tragedy. The supporting series includes the latest "Pathc Gazette," "Wonders of Niagara, "The Eyes of tho Army," and "Physical Education." Tho last-named film gives an interesting analysis of ordinary physical movements. The • programme" will be screened again this

evening
