INCREASED FREIGHTS.
FARMERS' UNION PROTEST.

CHRISTCHURCH, September 27. The North Canterbury Executive of tho-Farmers' Union this afternoon dealt at some length and with some warmth, with the increased oversea freights on wool.
Eventually, the following motion was carried:— ■ •
"That the Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union at one© communicate with the Advisory Board in Wellington, suggesting that it is imperative in the interests of the, primary producers in the Dominion that steps be taken to combat the extortionate rates to which freights have now risen, such as wool from .l§d last year to 2gd this year, and that dairy associations,; meat companies, and wool 'exporters be asked to m-eet in conference, with a view to immediate action being taken. That railing a conference being arranged before tho middle of October, tho Dominion President be asked to communicate with the Prime Minister in regard to tonnage.."
