Important recent additions- to the collections in Canterbury Museum are copies of tracings of decorations on the canoes of head-hunters at Buku, in the Solomon Islands. Two boxes made from native woods, one from silver pine and the other from 1 the New Zealand fuchsia, have also been presented, as have copies of posters published at Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England, at the conclusion of the Crimean War, and containing programmes for the celebration of peace. Some of the persons named as members of the Celebration Committee have descendants living in Canterbury to-day.
As the result-of a resolution carried at the annual general meeting of-the Canterbury Cricket Association, delegates from that association and the City and Suburban Association held a conference last evening to consider the question of cricket for the coming season. The chairman outlined the steps that had led up to the conference. The Canterbury Association's idea was that the City 'and Suburban Association might be prepared to enter teams in the Canterbury Association's competitions upon such conditions a 9 might be agreed upon. Eventually it was resolved that the City .and delegates should lay tho matter before their association to consider whether the scheme was acceptable, and, if so, to decide upon the conditions.
