BOROUGH COUNCIL.

FORTN9CHTLY MEETING.

Tht fortnightly meeting of the Ashburtoxi Borough Council was held last evening. Present—His Worship the Mayor (Mr R. Galbraith), Crs. F. Z. D. Ferriman, G. W. Andrews, G. D. H. Hefford, H. B>. C. MeElrea, G. H. Buchanan, P. L. Orr and J. B. Christian. The Mayor reported a ■ debit balance" on the Temporary Loans Account amounting to £1000, and a debit balance at the Bank of New Zealand amounting to £6749 10s 9d, making an actual overdraft of. £7749 10s 9d. The receipts since last meeting totalled £266 Os 2d, and included the following amounts:—Rates £113 3s, Abattoir Fees £46 9s lid, rents £32 5s 6d, refund metalling £26, High-pressure Water Supply £24 7s, fees and fines £4 10s, Salo of Earth £11 10s, Bridges and Culverts £4.
