ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.

TINWALD YARDS—THIS DAY.

There was only a moderate attendance at the stock, salo hold at Tinwald yards to-dayy when tho entry was much larger tban last week at the Ashburton yards, but about equal to that at the Tinwald \ards a fortnight ago. Tho yarding of fai, sheep totalled 364, aa against 162 last week; and included 179 fat ewes, 165 fat wethers, and 20 hoggote. Last week the yarding included 96 owes and (36 hoggets. With only butchers operating, and their supplies being filled from outside sources, thero was only very little demand, and of th.> yarding 53 ewes and 104 wethefis were passed at auction, and prices wore slightly easier. Best ewes made up to 30s 9d. withers to 325, and hoggets to 23s 3d. Tlio following range of prices obtained:—Best ewes 26s to 30s 9d, others 23s 6d to 24s 6d. best wethers 31s to 335. others 27s Id to 28s 9d, hoggets 22s 6d to 23s 3d. Tho yarding of store sheep totalled 1356. as against 729 last week, and included 407 hoggets. 316 wethers, the balance being ewes in lamb and witk lambs at foot. There was a fairly good demand for hoggets, and every lot submitted was sold at auction. Ewes &}\& at 23s 4d to 25s 9d, wethers 22s 6d and mixed sexes 16s. Only two lines of wethers were yarded, and one was passed at 25s 9d. while the other was not offered. Three lines of ewes were passed, ewes in lamb at. 17s, young" ewes,- in lamb, at 34s 9d; and older sorts, in lamb; at 19s 9d. The passings, totalled 841. Sales were:— , • •

Tho yarding of cattle was the largest that has been seen at Tinwald for some considerable time. Fat. cattle were in keen demand, and practically the whole of. tho yarding was cleared at current rates. There was an exceptionally keen demand for young cattle, aad tho ehtty in this class was also large. Mr W. T. Lill, Willowby, topped the- market wito a primp steer, which was sold at £17.
