i The following is the Ashburton grain market report for the' week ending September 23, 1916:— - . \ ' A>~heat.-—The demand for the past . week has been general, and a fair turnover has been done,- mostly in small parcels. A number of growers., are not offering .their lines, being of the opinion that l>efore the end of the year stocks will prove to be small, and consequently higher rates must rule. Values, although firm, have not ad- , jvanced, and may be quoted as: — Tuscan, 4a 7d for first-grado nulling, down to 4s 3d for inferior description, according to quality, on trucks stations. Oats. —Apart from business of_ & retail nature, there is nothing doing in this cereal owing to lack of stocks. . Chaff.—The,market is quiet, as supplies offering aro at present in excess of local requirements, and on account of there being no shipping outlet^Jot relieve the position.
