ARRIVALS FROM OVERSEA.
WORK FOR CUSTOMS OFFICERS
WELLINGTON/ September 20
Since Saturday last, when the time for voluntarily enrolling in the Reserve of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force lapsed, a new duty has been imposed upon the Customs officers who search ships on their arrival from oversea ports. These officers have now to see that every new arrival of military age is ■enrolled. His name, address, occupation, etc., are carefully noted, and he hjus to give the authorities an idea of his whereabouts.
No difficulty was experienced in getting a .complete list of those men of military ago who arrived by the Moeraki on Monday from 'Sydney, when the rule regarding oversea arrivals was insisted upon.
