At the annual Provincial Convention of the /VV.CXTJ., held recently in Ghristchurch, Mrs W. K. Watson was unanimously elected Provincial President for' Canterbury.
Mr J. Parker, chief sub-editor of the*'" Evening Post," has been appointed to succeed the late Mr Grbsley Lukin as editor.' Mr F. J. Earle has been appointed chief sub-editor.
His many friends will bo pleased to learn that Mr Stanley Smith, of Methven, who has been seriously ill in a private hospital at Christchureh,, is now about again and making progress towards recovery.
The death is aanouneM- of Mrs Fisher, .widow of tho late DUr George Fisher, M.P., and.several times Mayor of Wellington. Deceased had resided in Wellington for over 40 years. Her family includes Mrs J. B. Mathieson (Auckland), Mrs J. E. Macewan (AVellington), Mr Bert Fisher (Wellington),' and Mr-F. M. V>. Fisher, ex-Minister, now in London. . ' ' .

The party broke up Avith choirs for Mr and Mrs Mclven;;ie, nnd the singing of " Atild Lanjc Sj'ne."
