• Ghpistchurch, March 1. The Addington market pri'>r to the ! annual ra'Tri fair is always a heavy one, and to-day's was no exception to the rule, There was a large attendance, including -visitors from oiher parts of the colony. Tiie weather was beautiful. Store Sheep—The sale was by far the largesb this season ; 8000 or 9000 being yarded. For good sorts of young, crossbreds of both sexes ■t* brisk demand existed, and nearly all lines were sold at recent rates, up to 14a beinp given for mixed sexes. The demand for good kinds of cress or halfbred ewes up to sound mouth was excellent, some of the latter realising up to 15*. Lines of good crossbred lambs sold fairly well, though there was not the keen demand for them that has prevailed recently; prices ranged from 8s 9d to 13s, the latter for export. Aged crossbred ewes niec with purchnaers in small lots. Prices were easier, and ranged from 6s 9d to '9s 7d. The demand for merino ewes and wethers was not active. Fat Lamb3—-From lls 6'l to 13s 9d was the price given for the best lambs for export. The demand was good all through for this class, but in the sale of unfinished lambs prices were easier, - ' , Fat Sheep—The s-ile was dull at first, but the 6000 offered met with a fair sale equal to late fates. The demand for best crossbred wethers and maiden ewes for export was moderate, except in-the case of some very prime lots at 163 to 17s, James Little's Alandale half breds realising 16s 6d to 18s 3d -the highest price this season. Lighter sorts sold from 13s to 15s 6d i dry crcssbreds ewes from 12 i to 15s 6d ; a few nice merino wetheri from 10a to 13s 3d ; second raters were dull of t sale. Fat Cattle — A small' entry was speedily disposed of. Good steers and heifers were in dtmund from £6 os to £7 15s for the former, £5 103 to £617<6d for the latter. Only a few cowa were offered and sold well in proportion. Stoke Cattle—The sale< wis fairly representative, though not large. Year* j lings brought 30a to 355, two-year-old heifers £3 3s, cows at current rates. The demand for dairy cows in profit and springing was very keen. j v- 1Pigs—2oo porkers and baconers sold at prices quite equal to recent,quotations, both averaging 4d per lb ; stores and weaners were actively enquired after.
