UPPER ASHBURTON.

The following correspondence was rtai and considered :—From the Land Ofl.ce, Christchurch, forwarding schedule showing sections on which thirds or fourth* are payable to this Bjard, and nsking ih« Board to submit proposals for water supply or work on roads for the benefit of each section. It was decided, as no money had been paid over on thirds or fourths for some time, and the Board having spent a considerable amount beneficial to these sections, and complied with the notices received, that the clerk and Mr Harper interview the Commissioner of Crown ; Lands as to when the money already ex- , pended would be paiA over y and make I arrangements for future sums. 1 From the District Survey Office, Chridt\church, forwarding lithographic picture of the swimming pool at the Hainner bath*, and asking the Board to exhibit nme in some conspicuous place in its premises. From the Ashburton County Council, stating that the foot bridge as requested in this Board's memo of December 24 would be erected. From Mr G. J. F. Lublow, stating that he was now about to proceed with the ' formation of channel along Black's road, Westerheld, and before doing &o wished to state that he would be responsible for damage done to road; etc;, by such formation, and also would provide adjoining property holders with the necessary crossings, if required. It was resolved that the clerk write Mr Lublow informing him that the work must not be proceeded with until this Board had received a reply to its letter of January 24 to the County Council re their indemnifying this Board agair.st damage. Mr B. McAlister asked the Board if they would reduce the valuation <.f Lot 48, reserve 850, to £210 3s 9J, being the amount that he has taken it at ou pea petual lease from the Cruwn. w As the valuation of this property was passed by the Crown under the last assessment, the Board had no power to alter. The clerk was instructed to notify Mr McAlinter of this fact. Mr Samuel Boyle applied for the use of reserve 1402 from year to year, and offered £1 per annum for same. This reserve being planted the Board declined to accept tie offer. Re water supply for the Board's reserve, Tinwald. The clerk was instructed to ask the Saleyards Company if they would permit a small supply of water to be taken from the creek running through their paddock, provided the same be returned to the creek within a few chains. \ ROLL ALTEBATIONS. • The clerk was instructed according to applications, to alter the following names on the roll, all rates being paid to date : — George Church to Charles Rimraington, for lots 13 to 21, part 4906, 2 acres 3 roods, 35 perches, No. 5 Ward ; James Daly to Patrick T<ysaght, for R.S. 27243, 27197, 300 acres, No. 6 Ward ; Mrs G. j Parsons to George Campbell, R.S. 27277, 1185 acres, No. 6 Ward. VNPAJD RATES. The clerk wa> also instructed to sue for all out-standing ra'.es not immediately paid, and to advertise the same. PAYMENTS. Accounts were passed for payment amounting td**t'l24, and the Board adjourned •
