Sir W, Buller takes with him in the Coptic some very valuable and interesting collections 1 for the Imperial Institutp, besides Sir Walter's own Maori antiquities, etc. Mr Sedion has obtained the fine collection of timber?, building'ston'es and marbles, shown by the EubHc Works Department at the Dunedin Exhibition, and afterward^ handeiJ to the Dunedin museum. Many specimens are in duplicate, and the selection made is fully representative. The Railway Opmtoissioners have handed over the collection of timber made for Qhicago, and an excellent series of photos, and also give free railage to other collections, Samples of fiddle Island coal ape promised, but Kawakawa will be the only one ready to a> in the Coptic. Mr John Roberta has undertaken to collect a proper wool exhibit from next clip, and Messrs Turnbull anoLCo will 4q the same for flax, The latte. ivill be ready for the opening Mr Seddon will collect a mineral exhibit later on. The Canterbury museum will send a splendid moa skeleton, similar to the one which Sir J. yon Haast valued at a thousand pounds. Mr Mitchelson has promised a collection of Kauri gum. 'ho shipping companies charge half freights only. Altogether the New Zealand court will not be badly represented at the opsning, and by the time all the collection* are in place it must be an attractive fight. The Premier ha,s cabled that all the space will be used.
