Mr David Thomas reports upott the live stock market in the Ashburton district for the week ending February 14:—On Tuesday at the Auhburton yards the usual weekly sale of live stock was held, when 51f6 sheep and 16 head of cattle weie yarded. My entry comprised 1156 ,*heep and 4 bead of cattle. The' attajpuice was good, and bidding spirited, and I cleared every line Ih*d in at prices satisfactory to vendorsiv I ;»uld two-tooth ewes from 10j ftd to w^ fat four-tooth wethers from 12s 6d to 16s 3d; crossbred lambs from 10s to 15s; sound mouth merino ewes from 5s to 6s (td. I sold privately during the week 400 twotooth ewes. 13s 6d ; 200 two-tooth.ewes, 134 9d; 600 small two-tooth ewes, and wethers, 10a 9d ; several lots of fat lambs • at various prices; and 1088 crossbred ewes and wethers at a satisfactory figure. The weather on the Monday* although.; severe on travelling stock, did not effect the prices, as might have been expected in some cases. Hoßst Market.—On Saturday at the Arcade, the entries were small,, owing to the harvest operations still <being in fall swing, but en Saturday week I hope, to have a fair entry of horses, many already being entered.
