MOUNT SOMERS.

The usual monthly meeting of the Mount Somers iload Board was held on Monday, February 6. Present—Messrs Peache (Chairman), Hood, McMillan, and Harrison. The Overseer's report was rea4 and considered. Gorge Road—The Overseer was in* structed to call tenders tor nhinqlinsf about twenty-four ch-'i*^ near Clent Hills station, and about uui-ty chains near the Hakatere stables ; also tor the supply of about 700 yards of shingle to be delivered between the Deep Creek and the Mount Somers hotel. Mount Somers Twin way Road.—The Overseer was instructed to arrange for reforming that part already shingled, near the railway crossing. Mili Road.—The Overseer was instructed to try and arrange for this road to be shingled as soon as possible, and in the mean time to get tha boulders broken and put in the ruts. Correspondence.—From the Chief Surveyor, re. progress'"of the work on the Village Settlement roals.—The Clerk slated that he had sent the necasaary i formation. From the Chairman of the Anama Roa<i Board, Asking for auother cheque for their share of ihe Mount Somers i oad Board cottage, the nrafc t.ne having been lost. —,■ Resolved to forward another cheque on the receipt of a guarm cc indemnifying the Board against log*. From Mr C. Morrison, asking for the names of Mossra E. U Cooper and T. Molain's to be put on the roll for land sold them. —Agreed to. From the L-ind and Income Tax Dep utmenfc, stating that a voucher had been sent to the Treasurer for the payment of 75 per cent of th« subsidy.— Kecaived. Frum.Mr VV. jEdson, asking for the name of George 'IVytor Smith to be put on the roll for land sold to him.—Agreed to. From the manager New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, asking for die namexrf Mr W. T. Simpson to be put on the roll as occupier for land leased to him.-^-Agreed to. Mr Spoor interviewed the Board with respect to a drain to bo made near his section (Village Settlement); also complaining of some gorse left on the track going to his place, and asked the Board to order its removal. The Overseer was instructed to call tenders for the drain, to be opened by him, and to order the corse to be removed if obstructing the path, Mr k., MoFarlane interviewed the Board with respect to a sheep dip lo be erected on the pound reserve. —Applicaton was made for this two years ago when it was agreed to, and it wa« resolved to place no obstacle in the way of its erection. Mr W. McClyraont interviewed the Board with respect to an accident he had met with on the Mill road, and asked for some recompence for the damage he had sustained.—He was informed that the Jsoard did not consider themselves liable, as the Board had dqae what they could I to get the road repaired. S Tenders were opened fpr breaking the stones on the Main road from Stephen's corner to tho Mill road, and that of A. Grant was accepted at 3s 6d per chain. Tenders were opened for forming about twenty-four chains, Fox's road, and that of J. Milne was accepted, at 7s 6d per chain. The pay sheet, amounting to £168 Us was passed, and tho ii'V^.l adjourned.
