Ashburton Market.
HKSHUS FKIEDLANDEK BROS. Messrs Friedlander Bros, report upon the live stock market for the week ending February 10:—There was a good entry of sheep at the Tinwald yards on Tuesday last, although the attendance, on account, no doubt of the busy season of the year, was rather small. The competition for all classes of sheep was spirited, with prices of the last few sales fully maintained. The fat pens were represented by some very good merino wethers. These met with good competition at from 8s 6d for ordinary and 9a 5d to 11s for the better sorts. In stores two-tooth cros&breds sold up to 13s Bd. Store lambs, halfbred and crossbred, made from 9s 5d to l)s, and nice lines of halfbreds made 12s 6d each. Sound mouth merino ewes sold up to 7s 4d; inferior broken mouth up to 4s 7d. Merino ewes with 100 per cent of lambs fetched 8s 9d. There is a very strong demand for half and crossbred two and four-tooth breeding ewes; we have already placed two lines, and have inquiries for. this kind of sheep at full market rates, also for crossbred sheep to go on turnips. Beef was only sparsely represented, and butchers are on the look out for medium weights suitable I tor this season of the year.
