MAYFIELD
(feomoub own cobbespondint) The Beoond annual pionio of the Mayfield Good Templars took place on Christmas Day, and vu field m a paddook kindly lent by Mr Kellaghan, the weather being all that could be wished for the ocoasion. About twelve o'clock the pleasure Beckers began to make their appearance, and at two o'clock there was a Large master. A refreshment booth filled with good things was m charge of Mrs Haase and Mrs Trethewy and the Misses Doyle and A. Kellagban. Three.Legged Baoe— Gallaher and Annett, I % Taylor and Doyle, 2. Mile Raae— W. Annett, 1 ; 31 Gallaher, 2. Boys under 15 Baoe- J. Doyle, 1 ; W. Patterson, 2. Mr Kellaghan acted as starter, and Mr B. Slston (Ashburton) handioapper. A Lawn Tennis Match was played by Mr and Mrs E. Taylor, Mr B. Elston and Miss Doyle ; the two latter winning the match. A variety of other amusements were kept «ell moving, including the Tug of War between Buapuna and Mayfield, Buapdna being victorious. This (at 8 pVm.y brought & vary enjoyable pionio to a close, with- three hearty cheers for Mr Kellaghan and the Seat' hOßpitaHty shown by 'himself ana mily.
