ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET

Mr D. Thomas (late of Matson, Cox, and Co.) reports upon the Live Stock Market for the Ashburton District for the week ending December loth, as follows : — On Monday I held my monthly sale at the Chertsey Yards, at which there was a fair entry of sheep. Fat crossbred realised 13s 6d, and shorn hoggets 8 s 6d. On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards I held my usual weekly s i!e of sheep, cattle, and pigs. There was a moderate entry for the day consisting of 2567 sheep and 57 cattle, of which 1 sold 101 1 sheep and 22 cattle at the following prices : — Fat crossbred ewes, 8s 2d to 8s 4d ; fat merino wethers, 6s id to 6s '2d; a good line of four and six tooth ewes and wethers, 12^ j crossbred ewes and lambs, 7s iod.
