PULPIT SENSATIONS.
London, October 29
The Right Rev Dr Magee, Bishop of Peterborough delivered a sermon at Leicester on Sunday, which has created a great sensation. 'He expressed the opinion that no Christian State which acted m all its relations according to the precepts ©f Christ's Sermon on the Mount could maintain its independent existence for a week.
A sensation was caused m the Free Church of Scotland over a sermon delivered by the Rev Marcus Dods yesterday on the doctrine of the Atonement and the Divinity of Christ. The sermon has excited hostility among, the preacher's brother clericals, and caused the initiation of a heresy hunt.
