The sohooner Dunedin whioh took a party of settlers to the Eermadeo Islands, leaving Auokland on the 4th mat, has returned hither. The settlers had a good passage down, and sighted Sunday Island on the 11th. They were landed m Denham Bay, ana at onoe began the work of ereoting wbares. A number of kauri logs from the northern ooast of New Zealand are stranded m the Bay, and they intend using these for building purposes. As the result of the reoent Hospital enquiry, Dr Bond has resigned his position as a member of the Hospital staff. The warship Duquesne, the Frenoh flagship on the Central Paoifio station, arrived from Noumea to-day. Admiral Lefebre is on board. a The three-ton yaoht Astraosa oapsized ana sank m the harbor during a heavy squall. | Seven men who were on board were quiokly resoued. It is now stated that Mr J. Deasy will aooompany Mr Dillon and Sir T. Esmonde on their New Zealand tour. . , GtiSBORNB, Ootober 28 Mr Andrew Graham, late M.H.R., has filed his sohedule. New Plymouth, October 28. In the Supreme Court the oasa Mynott v Oorkill for libel was heard to-day. The judgment was forj£2o, and m the oase Mynott v " Herald " for libel judgment was alao given for £20. The Court then adjourned. Immediately after judgment was delivered m the oase Mynott v the " Taranaki Herald," the yublio subsoribed the whole amount of damages and costs payable, and tendered the Baroe to the proprietor, Mr Weßton, with warm expressioni of sympathy, .Blenheim, Ootober 28. Hojutika, Ootober 28 As a party of two miners were prospeoting a gully for quartz reefs on the left hand branoh of Donnelly's creek, near Boss, they aame across a human skull at the bottom , oi the gully. The (skull waa intact, but was partly covered with moss. There was no trace of a skeleton. Intkroabgill, October 28 A ehooking accident boourred this after noon at the N'Z. Pine Company's Bust Tramway at Woodend. A small looomotivi was running slowly up the inoline on a straigb line when it left the line and capsized, 0 four men who were on it, three escaped witr slight injuries; but the driver, James Lad brooke, was killed on the spot. He fel against a log, and the starting-bat of thi engine struck him on the mouth, penetratinf the head so far bb to almost sever it from th( body. The deceased leaves , a widow am three ohildren. No cause has been die covered for the engine leaving the rails which are of iron, '

the third siner of the h-mperor o* Germany, to Constantine, Duke of Sparta, the eldest son of the King o' Greece, was celebrated to-day. The ceremony was attended with much eclat, and immense enthusiasm was exhibited by the populace towards the royal visitors, especially the Prince and Princess of Wales.
