CROWN LANDS STATISTICS
We are Indebted to the Minister of Lands for some interesting statistical information with reßpeot to Grown land dealings for the half year ending the 30th of September last. The amount of land taken up during that period was ac follows : — Conditions. Area; Seleotors. Revenue. Cash .. .. 18,382 268 16,754 Settlement conditions .. 197,695 784 55,163 Pastoral ..3,052,819 133 109,615 Other revenue *.. _ 10,085 Total .. .. 8,268,896 1185 191,617 The eiflmated revenue for mis period w*b £178,759. In the aame half-year of last year (that is, ending the 30th September, 1888) the area sold waa 668,541 aores; the cumber of eeleoton vrai 1138; aad the revenue was £172,694. Thus there Is an Inorease for tbe half yeir jast closed, as against the aame period for last year, of neatly £20,000. The total quantity of settlement land open for seleotlon on the 30. h September last was 960,000 aores, at prices ranging from 5s to £5. Another 400,800 aores will be opened In March, 1890, and a considerable further area between April Ist and June 30th, 1889. In ths Wellington land diairioc the quantity of land open for seleotlon on the Ist tn ' slant was 168,500 acres, ranging In prioe from 7* 61 to £2 10a ; and there will bs a further 46,000 aoren open before the 81st Maroh next.— «« N.Z.
