Thursday Island, October 3. The following Eastern news is to hand per steamer : —
At Foochow, eleven persons who had been found guilty of robbery have been beheaded.
Tho Japanese coasts, bordering on the gulfs of Owarai and Migaga, have been swept by hugo waves, and it is estimated that fully a thousand lives have been lost.
'/he " Fenang Gazette " says that the Netherlands Government intends despatching a large number of troops to Aoheen, but as cholera has broken out, it will probably delay them.
