Sydnet, Octsber 6. It has been ascertained that several other persons were drowned by- the yacht accident yesterday. The following are the names of those who' lost their lives : — Horace Kippax, Kate and Nellie Thompson, Ada Gilberd, Polly Stewart, and Mary Fahey,
A systematic scheme of biby farming has been unearthed at Waverley, a suburb cf Sydney. Two infants were found lying dead en the premises, apparently starved, and another m a dying condition. Besides thess it is reported that six other children have died during the last few month?. Sir H. Parkes, the Premier, consider! that before a conference of Australasian colonies Is held on military matters an agreement should be come Jo between the varied* colonies 'as to the manner m which the machinery is to be provided to bring the whole of the colonial forces under one administrative control m the event of an emergency arising. He suggests awaiting Major-General Edwards' report before anything is done.
