DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET

Following are quotations under date 25th i&st :— Wheat. — The tons of the market still continues weak and ttasatsfaotory, and the prospect for the disposal of all the wheat now m stook is not by any means encouraging. At present the ■ales effected are meagre m the extreme. Best milling velvet and Tnsoaa (nominal), 3s 61 to 3 1 8d ; medium to.g od, 3> 2d to Zi 4d; interior to good whole fowls 1 wheat, 2s 7d to 3s Id (ex store). Oats.— -The extra demand last weak was owing to a ppoclal steamer being laid oi for Melbourne, but even then the quantity she took was limited, Since then a few small sales have bom eff c.ed, but at lower prices, and the tendenoy ia still downwards. While bo many ure now offering, and there are bo few buyers, it will eoarcely be possible to maintain even last week's quotations. There is no demand for milling, and now that the season ia so far advanoed tbere is no chance of aDy improvemeLt, the oatmeal trade being now almost at a standstill. Best milling, 28 6d to 2s 6d ; best short feed, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; medinm to good, 2s 3d to 2s 4d, It is almost impossible to place long oats, except an odd bag occasionally for seed. (The above quotations are ex ttore, sacks extra.) Barley has ye y little attention from malators. Second- class and inferior is unsaleable, except at prices wh ! ch would hardly be satisfactory to growers. Prime malting, 3s 5i to 3b 7u ; medium (nomin»l) 3s to 3s 3d ; feed and milling, 2s to 2a 9d, ex store, eaoka extra."
