Blenheim, August 30. Hamling, convicted of forgery, was brought up this morning, and admitted to twelve months under the First Offdnders Probation Act. He had forged a bill for £35, bat had paid it, and thia ciroumstanoe, said His Honor, called for merciful consideration, the prisoner having an unblemished character, and domestic trouble* The aotlon for slander, Horton v Hawker, a merchant against a country storekeeper, £1000 damages, Is atlll proceeding, Christohubch, Augnat 30 la the case of Fowler v Ivory (arising out of transactions In produce) his Honor made the followiag decree :— Judgment for defendant, exo'ept as to £3 14i lid and £2, and also on the counter okim for £12 10s and disbursements.
