His Borvloes and w>rk m other departments will make his absence severely felt. As an official ia tbe Weslepan Oburoh he bas been ever ready to promote the .Interest* of his own communion. Since tbe Sunday Bchool has been In existence, be bas worked bard and successfully as a tcaohor, and Utterly aa superintendent. In tbe BaDd of Hope he bai done excellent uervlce, and assisted by other*, bas mode the monthly meeting qafte a feature of Tinwald social life. Aa leader of the boya' catechumen class Mr Bm!th has shown spcolal fitnets In directIng the oonduot of the lads m things light and true. In all re'lglc vi and temperanoe work Mrs Smith baa been an earcest and hearty supporter of her busbind. When It became known that Mr Smith was eboitly to remove to another tphere, steps were taken to give tangible expression of the r;opnit(on of bis work. The meeting last evening was for this purposp. Tbe Rev J. N. Buttle presided and cpndnoted devotional exeroieei. He expreiscd bis regret at the removal of Mr Smltb, and hoped that what would be the Iob« of Tinwald wocld be the gain of Oulverd-n, The Rev J. T. Burrows Id a neat speech referred to the work of the patting guest, and piesented him with a handsome family Bible, fnd Mrs Smith with a teapot. Matter J»b. Smith, on behalf of the boys' oUsa presented their late leader with a silver plated Inkstand, Riving expression to tholr good feelings and wishes for bis future prosperity. Mr Smith replied m suitable terms. He wss surprised bat gratefal for the klodnses of ibo donors. »nd on bebslf of Mrs Smith and hlmtelf tbsnked them most heartily. He should ever think of bis term In Tinwald with pleasure, and expeoted to hear of their continued prosperity. Messrs Hawkins, low, W. H. Smith and Mister Low all testified tholr kindly feelings towards Mr and Mrs Smith, regretting his departure, but hoping for success m tbe fatura. Refreshments were provided by tbe Udles most abundantly, and were handed round, whilst tbose present spent the time m good-fellowship.
