Stdnby, August 20 The " Star " this evening publishes an extraordinary charge against the late Captain Hansby of the steamer Dupleix, who was killed by a tram car a few days ago. It alleges that on the last trip of the Dupleix from Wellington to Sydney, while the vessel was m Cook Strait Capt. Hansby was m an incapable condition, and the vessel was m great danger of being wrecked when off Pelorus Sound. The passengers and crew then petitioned the chief officer to take charge of the steamer. He did so, and thus saved the vessel, The " Star" publishes affirmatory affidavits, sworn by the members of the crew and the passengers. The crew declined to make another trip with Captain Hansby. On the arrival of the Dupleix m Sydney the chief officer was dismissed, without a reason being assigned, and the second officer and crew were transhipped to another vessel. Morrison, who was condemned to death for shooting Constable Sutherland, was executed to-day. VJCTORJA. | Melbourne, August 20, ! In the Supreme Court to-day the case against Dr LeFevre, M.L.0., claiming* £18,200, for alleged wrongful sitting as a member of the Legislative Council without the necessary qualifications, was 'heard. The plaintiff, Mr A. McOall, alleged that the Dr. Le Fevre named m the declaration owned some property which he had not held for the epeoified time prior to the election. The jury returned a verdiot for £13,000.
