Hia Worship the Mayor hsa reoalved the following message from hla Excellency the Governor: — "Dear Mr Mayor, will you allow m», through your Worship, to express my thanks, and thoee of Lady Onslow, to the olt'z^ns of Nelson for the kind sympathy and consideration which they have shown to as during the time of great anxiety through which w« have lately pasaed, I am especially grateful for the manner m whioh that sympathy has been extended, not by any load expression of public feelfhg, bat; m the far more gratifying way of refraining from any notion which might disturb the cuff rer at a time when he needed their undivided oare. lam also anxious to recognise the friendly spirit m whioh aotno, carrying on operations 1 kely to duia nolee In the neighborhood of Warwick Hoaso, have voluntarily suspended them on my son's account. All these acts of thoughtfulness, added to the natural charms of Nelson, have contributed to make it likely that we shall look baok with feelings of pleasure to the time ire have spent there.
