ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET
MR D. THOMAS. Mr D. Thomas (late <jf M*tson, Oox and Oo.) reports upon the Live Btook Market for the Ashbutton district, for the weak ending August 18 th as follows i — On Tueflday at the Tinwald Yards I held my usual weekly sale . of sheep, oattle, and pigs. The total for the day was 5065 sheep, 10 bead of oattle, and 11 pig«. There was a good attendaneo, and the bidding for all olaaaes of good sheep was spirited, with the exception of ewes m lamb, which I consider are far below their real value. Oattle were as canal quite neglected, Figs sold sold at full rates. Out of the total entry I sold 2631 sheep, 2 head of Battle, and 11 pigs at the following prices :— Fat oroßßbred ewea, 12s 6d ; fat oroßabred ewes and withers, 14s 6d to 149 7d ; store crossbred hoggets, 6s, 8s Id, 8a Sd, 9s 2d, to 10a 7d; oiossbred two-tootb, 8a 4d to 8s 7d ; poor crossbred ewes aged, 6* to 6s 7d and 7s 5d *, merino ewes m lamb, 6s 3d. Figs— Sows m pig, £2 4a to £8 2a 6d. la Cute— Springers, £4.
