The marble man, now on exhibition, is the subject of an interpleader issue in the Supreme Court. Execution was issued last week against the exhibition 00 account of a debt of owing by H. Stockdale to Matthew Nathan and Co., Sydney. In the course of the evidence it was shown that the marble man was purchased from Sala, of Cow Flat, New South Wales, for by P. F. Buchanan, a squatter, and C. Purnell, both of Sydney. The case was adjourned to allow the former to produce the receipt of purchase. Victor von Schullz, the defaulting manager of the Asbejtos Manufacturing Company, his been arrested He had a bottle • ! The first concert of the new Victorian orchestra, which has been organised on a national basis, partially by public subscription and Government subsidy, was a grand success. Mr Hamilton Clarke, the conductor who was brought from England, met with a great reception.

Mrs Fleming, keeper of a rather fashionable boarding-house, is charged with infanticide. The evidence disclosed the fact that the child was born alive, but was strangled.
