The Assembly last night passed an address to the Queen, prayiog that Constitutional Government be granted to Western Australia without delay.
The New South Wales Waterloo Cup was won by Rambfer, Polloy being runner-up.
The fruit importers and growers have forwarded to the Premier of Victoria copies of a resolution carried protesting against the increase of the $uty on fruit imported into that colony.
Mr Shoobridge, a fruit grower of Tasmania, who has been to England to learn the latest and most improved methods of preserving and packing Australian fruit for the Home market, has returned. He states that Aus tralian fruit compares favorably with fruit exported from America and other places, but the great secret of successfully forwarding South Australian and Victorian fruit is to send first crops. Late crops were too soft, and could not stand the long voyage.
