EAST STREET HORSE MARKET.
WILLIAMS AND BLAND,
Williams and Bland report having held their weekly sale of horses on Saturday, 10 sh August : — The entry consisted of 24 horaeß, of whioh we sold 19. The market for this last three weeks haß been dull, owing to the faot that farmers have bsen too busily engaged putting m their wheat. But on Saturday the market revived, there was a large attendance of farmers and the bidding throughout the sale was spirited. We had 5 good sorts from Oamaru, belonging to Mr Wm Irving; a pair of very useful mares, one 4 year old filly by Banker, and one 7 year old mare m foal to Souter Johnny, were sold privately before the sale by the owner for £44 the pair, and were afterwards sold by auction for £74 ; a blaok mare, 6 yeare, by Glasgow, £22 ; bay mare, 6 years old, was passed, but afterwards sold at £21 ; a good useful spring dray horse, 7 years, fetched £15 103. Oa account of other olients we iSold 4 year old mare, £18 ; do year old, £15 5s ; 8 year old gelding, £16 ; 8 yea** old mare, £13 5s ; do gelding, £11 10a ; inferior sorts at £7 103, £5, £6 153 ; useful light spring oart horses, £10, £8 153 ; haoks £13, £6, £7103, £3.
Implements. — Farm drays, £19, £10; 5-leaf harrow?, £4 sa.
Hakness. — Shaft harness, £4 23 Gd ; saddle and britohing, £2 53, £2 ; leading harness, £2 ; horse covers, seoond hand 93.
Pkoduck — Local Derwents, £4 per ton, bags extra ; Btraw chaff, £2 per ton, baga extra ; feed barley, 103 Gd per bag ; chick wheat, 7b to 12a per bag ; seed wheat, Tueoan, 3d s£d per bushel ; ryegra3B g)ed, farmers' dressed, 2s lOd to 3s per bushel ; oocksEoot, 2d to 2Jd per lb; carrots, 2s Cd per bag; bran; 5s to 5s 9d por bag ; sharps, 83 per bag ; pork, 3£d to 4d per lb. -
Poultry.— Fowls, la 83, la 91, 23 7d ; duoks, 3s 6d per pair ; geese, 5s per pair.
We also report having held our fortnightly sheep skin sale on Friday 9th, our entry con. sisted of about 300 skins. We quote good orossbred skins i*t 4s, 4s 2d, 4s SJ, 4s 7d, 4s lid to 5s 4d; do merino, 3i, 3s 43 to 3s 6d; medium do 2a 2d, 2s 6d to 2a 9d.
Land. — We also have to report hiving sold lots 9 and 10, containing half an aore, Greek road, near thn rnopnnnrpn for #25,
