ASHBURTON LIVE STOCK MARKET
MR D. THOMAS. Mr D. Thomas (late of Matson, Cos, and Go.) reports upon the Live Stook Market for the Ashburtph District for the week ending July 16th as followß :— Oa Tuesday at the Tinwald Yards I held my usual weekly sale of sheep, oattle, and pigs. There was a total entry for the day of I 5060 sheep and 52 head of oattle, of whioh I sold 3062 sheep and 88 head Of cattle. There was a limited attendanoe, and prices were barely maintained, whioh may, m a great measure, b& aooounted for by the snow storm of Monday, whioh made the sheep look muoh worse than usual. The following are the j prices : — Fat orossbred eweß acd wethers, ' 13a ; fat merino wethers, 7s lid, 7s 3d, to 7a 2d; fat merino ewes, 5s lOd to 6s; orossbred ewe 3 m lamb, 8s 9d ; orossbred hoggets, 8s 4£d ; merino ewes m lamb, 4a lOd, ss, to 5s Qi. In fat oattle, £3 10s, £3 16s, £3 17s 6d, £4 Is ; springers, £4 5s to £5 ; yearlings, 27s to 325. On the same date I also held a oleariog sale on aooounfc of the R.M. Court, when the following prioes were realised : — Dray, £9 10s; plough, £7; horses, £11 10s, £9 10s, £12 10b'; and sundries at satisfactory prioes*
