London, Jnly 16 f la the examination before the "Times"-Parnell Commission to-day Mr Q'KeUy deposed that he was sent from America to Ireland m 1879 and was supplied with funds by the Clan-na-Gael Society to effect a rising m Jrelaqd but the mission failed as the governing body m Ireland refused to cooperate He admitted that he was intimate with Miller, Devoy, and Harris, three of the Irish revolutionary party m America. He also stated that he arranged for the defence of any prisoners he thought proper. Sir H. James will conclude the cross-examination of Mr Parnell (?) to-day.
London, Jnly 17 The " Times w states Mr Healey addressed a meeting of the National League m I}ublin, at which he defied and insulted the Commission.
The f'Tinftes" assert? that th,e Patriotic Union had nothing to do with " Parnellism and Crime," as alleged by the Irish party. The " Standard considers ftfr Par-, nell'a withdrawal from the Commission a piece of thin melodramatic posing. The public will regard it as an angry admission of the futility of his efforts to exculpate himself.
